What is Live Tiles Anywhere App?
The Live Tiles feature is already in the Windows 10 Start Menu, but in Windows 11, Microsoft doesn’t implement it. But the idea behind “Live Tiles” is still there, and the “Live Tiles Anywhere” app is a direct example. If you have used Windows 10, you remember the “tiles” are square, contain images or numbers, and show notification previews from apps. It looked beautiful, and all Windows users were happy with the change.
Unfortunately, this “Live Tile” no longer exists in Windows 11, but one developer has created a modified version of it called “Live Tiles Anywhere.” As the name suggests, you can use it anywhere you like. You can use it in Start Menu as well as Desktop Widgets.
How to Install Live Tiles Anywhere on Windows 11
First, open the Microsoft store and search for Live Tiles Anywhere or you can just click on it here.
Click button Get.
Once downloaded and installed, click Open.

It will take you to the window Tile Editor. First, click Element to execute which is in the left pane.
Here, click menu drop down.
Then select Installed apps.
Then click Pick an app.
Select app for your first Live Tile and click Save.
There are several other customization options like Background color, text color, visual image, visual branding, etc. which you can see.
Click Save to complete.
Then click Save and close.
Under tab Custom Tilesright click the tile and click Pin to the Start Menu. Then click Yes.
Currently, the app is not optimized to show live tiles in Windows 11’s Start Menu nor is it meant to replace its UI components, which use small ‘badges’ as app icons. However, if you are using Windows 10, you will see it as a real live tile.
You can also put these tiles on the desktop. To do so, right-click the tile and select Create a desktop icon.
How to Create Widgets in Windows 11 With Live Tiles Anywhere
Once a custom live tile is created, it can be used as a widget to be placed anywhere on the Windows 11 desktop. To do this, right-click on the live tile and select Create a widget.
Another faster way to create widgets on the desktop is to do so without creating a custom live tile. For this, open the application ‘Live Tiles Anywhere‘ and open the tab All Apps. Here, find the application, right click on it and select Create a widget.
This will instantly place the widget on the desktop.
Although not yet perfected, the idea behind the ‘Live Tiles Anywhere’ app has a lot of potential. As developers make changes, we may soon see a better version.
