On Windows 11, you can wirelessly connect the printer to your Windows 11 PC in at least two ways, including automatically using the “Devices” wizard or you can manually install the printer using the IP address.

In this guide, I will share how to add a wireless printer to a Windows 11 PC/laptop in 2 ways, namely installing automatically and manually.

Before a wireless printer can connect to Windows 11, it must first be connected to a WiFi network. The steps will differ depending on the printer, but typically, the printer can detect and configure these settings automatically once the printer server feature is enabled on the device.

1. Connect the printer to a WiFi network

For example, on an HP printer, you can connect it to a Wifi network using the following steps:

1. Open Setup.

2. Click on Network Setup.

3. Click Wireless Settings.

4. Enable option Wireless Settings.

Proceed by following the instructions that appear on the screen to complete this step.

If you have a printer connected using a wired (Ethernet) connection, you don’t need to go through the above steps. The only thing you need to know is the IP address of the printer, which you can open at Setup > Network Setup > Ethernet Setup and use View Ethernet Details.

2. Install Wireless Printer on Windows 11 PC/laptop

To add a wireless printer on Windows 11 PC/laptop, use the following steps:

1. Open Settings by pressing the button windows+i.

2. Click on Bluetooth & Devices.

3. Click page Printers & scanners on the right side.

4. Click button Add a printer or scanner.

5. Click Add device to install a wireless printer into Windows 11.

Once you complete the steps, Windows 11 will set up the wireless printer automatically.

3. Install printer in Windows 11 with IP address

If Windows 11 cannot detect the wireless printer, you can add the printer using the IP address using the following steps:

1. Open Settings by pressing the button windows+i.

2. Click on Bluetooth & Devices.

3. Click page Printers & scanners on the right side.

4. Click button Add a printer or scanner.

5. Click Add device.

6. Click option Add manually for option “The printer that I want isn’t listed“.

7. Select option Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.

8. Click button Next.

9. In the drop-down menu, use Device type and select autodetect.

10. Check the Q . optionuery the printer and automatically select the driver to use.

11. Confirm printer IP address (for example, 192.168.2.122).

12. Click button Next to install a wireless printer on Windows 11.

13. Click button Next.

14. Choose an option Don’t share this printer.

16. (Optional) Click the button Print a test page to test the printer connection.

17. Click button Finish.

Once you complete the above steps, you can start printing from your laptop or computer.

4. Remove Wireless Printer in Windows 11

To remove the wireless printer in Windows 11, use the following steps:

1. Open Settings.

2. Click on Bluetooth & Devices.

3. Click page Printers & scanners from the right side.

4. Select printer which will be removed from Windows 11.

5. Click button Remove device.

6. Click Yes to confirm.

Once you complete those steps, the printer driver will be removed, and the device will no longer be listed in Windows 11.
