Specifications and Speed of the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G Chip – has been released as the latest flagship processor. This chipset is claimed to be equivalent to the Apple A15 Bion, to compete with Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon 888 chipset. It is the first mobile chipset to be built on TSMC’s 4nm process and uses Arm’s new version 9 architecture.
With increasingly competitive smartphone prices, automatically not only smartphone manufacturers have to adjust their components to make them more relevant as choices. One of the main brains is the chipset, generally produced by Qualcomm and MediaTek. Last May 13th, the MediaTek Dimensity 900 was just introduced for the mid-range segment.
The Dimensity series is known as a powerful chipset that supports 5G, generally used in mid-range smartphones to affordable flagships. Even so, the processors released by MediaTek are also not inferior in terms of power efficiency. MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G itself boasts a 6nm fabrication process, being able to compete with the latest Snapdragon offerings in 2022.
In its official release, MediaTek Dimensity 900 is predicted to be the successor of the 800 series—already very popularly used on Android released last year. According to Dr. JC Hsu, Corporate VP & GM of the MediaTek Wireless Communications business unit, this chip provides a complete package with connectivity…
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G integrates a 10-core Arm Mali-G710 GPU and has a total of six fifth-generation APU cores for AI processing. The new flagship chip also integrates the new Imagiq Gen 7 18-bit ISP which is claimed to be the first in the world to capture 320 MP images, also offers support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth v5.3, Gadgets NDTV reports.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G
The Dimensity 9000 is the world’s first chipset to be manufactured using the Armv9 4 nm process architecture. This SoC has a configuration of 1 Cortex-X2 core clocked at 3.05 GHz, 3 Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz and 4 Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.
The company says that the first smartphone running the MediaTek DImensity 9000 will arrive sometime in Q1 2022. The chipset uses a new Armv9 architecture CPU that includes one Arm Cortex-X2 at 3.05GHz, three Arm Cortex-A710s with up to 2.85GHz, and four Arm Cortex-A510 CPUs. This chipset also comes with LPDDR5x 7500Mbps support.
As mentioned, the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 has a flagship 18-bit HDR-ISP design that enables HDR video capture on three cameras simultaneously. It also brings 320 MP camera support for smartphones. The new six-core fifth-generation AI processing unit is said to bring up to a 4x increase in power efficiency when compared to the last generation.
MediaTek Dimensity 900 Brings Flagship Performance For Everyone
He added that this latest MediaTek processor will provide more flexible options for smartphone manufacturers in releasing their 5G product portfolio. “The support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6 networks ensures that users can get the best out of their devices, with the fastest and most reliable network,” said JC Hsu.
Premium performance for everyone
Starting from its performance, MediaTek Dimensity 900 comes with the slogan “premium performance for everyone”. This chip uses an octa-core CPU architecture in a 6nm fabrication—8% more efficient than 7nm. The configuration itself is 2+6, where there are two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz, plus six Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores running up to 2GHz.
Full-HD display ARM Mali-G710 graphics processor
The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 also includes the latest ARM Mali-G710 graphics processor. This chipset is claimed to bring the industry’s first raytracing SDK using Vulkan for Android, including will bring support for full-HD + displays with a refresh rate of 180Hz.
Standard 3GPP Release-16
The Dimensity 9000 also integrates the only 5G smartphone modem with 3GPP Release-16 standard technology into the chip. It also features an integrated 5G modem that offers up to 7Gbps in downlink, 3CC Carriers Aggregation (300MHz), and uplink performance up to 300 percent faster.
Fastest RAM Support
The CPU is combined with the fastest RAM support today, namely LPDDR5, plus UFS 3.1 storage. For gaming needs, a power-efficient GPU has been prepared, namely the ARM Mali-G68, combined with the third generation AI processing unit (APU) from MediaTek.
Camera support sector
In addition to performance, the camera support sector is also featured on this latest MediaTek chipset. In addition to supporting video recording up to 4K resolution with HDR, smartphone manufacturers will be able to use camera sensors with high resolutions of up to 108MP if needed. The APU can also help improve photo quality automatically, plus support for 3DNR & MFNR technology that can brighten photos in low light conditions.
Supports Power Saving HDR10+ and 5G Content
In displaying content, MediaTek Dimensity 900 also has features like other flagship chips. For example the ability to convert SDR video to HDR in real-time, upgrade HDR10 content to HDR10+ and more. Thanks to MediaTek technology…
Connectivity options with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 include standard Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E 2×2, Wireless Stereo Audio, and Beidou III-B1 C GNSS support.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 5G Specifications
With 4nm fabrication, of course, Dimensity 9000 promises better power efficiency. In addition, the Cortex-X2 CPU on this chipset has a speed of 3.05GHz, accompanied by a 3-core Cortex-A710 2.85GHz and a 4-core Cortex-A510 1.8GHz.
MediaTek claims the Dimensity 9000 5G is capable of delivering 35 percent higher performance than flagship chipsets for Android phones on the market today. In terms of power efficiency was promised 37 percent better.
